We have two local authors joining us for SBC Matthews this month!
J.N. Kindig has been writing since childhood, when she made construction paper books about the care and keeping of dragons and bound them with yarn. Her writing craft has matured since then, thankfully, but her love for fantastical stories has remained. She writes fantasy that draws on elements of Gothic fiction and horror, but that always has enough light to counteract the dark. She is currently pursuing her master's degree in English. She lives in South Carolina with her husband and their dog, Luna.

Carter Pugh lives in North Carolina with her husband and her puppy son, Cheese. She loves reading fantasy, romance, and sci-fi. Writing has been a love and passion for her most of her life, but she didn't start her writing career until 2023 when she published her debut novel, Death Rattle. When she isn't reading or writing in her spare time, she loves watching British TV shows such as Escape to the Country and Absolutely Fabulous. Carter's family is from England and she has always shared a deep love for the country and its culture as a result.

How Silent Book Club Works
Silent Book Club is called that because it is an opportunity to enjoy quietly reading a book in a location different from your home, where no discussion is required. Some of the locations we visit might have background noise and conversations, but you do not have to participate in any conversations during your time with us. Silent Book Club is BYOBook so you can show up with any book (physical or digital). There are no assigned readings or discussions, just uninterrupted time to immerse ourselves in the pages of our favorite books.
