FREE COMMUNITY EVENT
We're heading back to the Matthews Woman's Club this month, one of our favorite cozy spots for reading and connection.
Matthews Woman's Club Service League began in 1988 and was formed as an offshoot of The Matthews Woman's Club. The historic clubhouse was built in the 1940s for the American Legion and was donated to the Matthews Woman's Club in the early 1970s.
Join us for Silent Book Club Matthews: Booksgiving on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, as we celebrate the season of gratitude and community. Bring your current read, a generous spirit, and settle in for an evening of quiet reading and good company.
In the spirit of togetherness, we invite everyone to bring something small to share, a favorite treat, snack, or cozy drink, though there's no pressure to do so. We'll also be supporting our neighbors by collecting items for the Matthews HELP Center's food drive. Your contributions will make a meaningful difference this season.

What to Know Before You Go:
In addition to cozy couches and chairs, we will also have tables and chairs set up for more seating options.
Bring a small cushion or blanket to really relax.
Free parking is available behind the clubhouse or across the street at Matthews Elementary.
Our Sip on Stories Giving Tree
This holiday season, we're embracing the spirit of generosity and community through a beautiful initiative inspired by Lighthouse Bookshop's Pay-It-Forward Program, and supported by our friends at Libro.fm.
Libro.fm has graciously provided us with three audiobook gift certificates (each worth one free audiobook) to help us kick off our Sip on Stories Giving Tree.
Here's how it works:
🌲 We'll have a Giving Tree at this month's Silent Book Club, featuring the Libro.fm gift certificates.
💝 You can help "pay it forward" by bringing or purchasing a book, gift card, or cozy item from us. Instead of taking it home, leave it with us to share with someone in need of a little holiday magic.
🎁 We'll add your gift to the Giving Tree, where anyone can choose an item. No questions asked, no stigma attached. Whether it's for themselves or someone they love.
Together, we can make stories, warmth, and kindness ripple through our community this season.
How Silent Book Club Works
Silent Book Club is called that because it is an opportunity to enjoy quietly reading a book in a location different from your home, where no discussion is required. Some of the locations we visit might have background noise and conversations, but you do not have to participate in any conversations during your time with us. Silent Book Club is BYOBook so you can show up with any book (physical or digital). There are no assigned readings or discussions, just uninterrupted time to immerse ourselves in the pages of our favorite books.
Event Schedule
