Silent Book Club is a monthly meetup hosted by Sip on Stories, an independent bookstore based in Matthews, North Carolina (Charlotte area). Bring any book, read together for an hour, then socialize if you'd like.

Welcome to Silent Book Club Matthews, NC

At Silent Book Club Matthews, we believe reading is even better when shared. There are no assigned books, no pressure to talk, and no rules (except: bring a book you love). Just a cozy hour of reading alongside fellow book lovers, hosted each month in welcoming, local spaces.

Founded and hosted by Jen and Bob Aycock of Sip on Stories, our Matthews, NC chapter is part of the global Silent Book Club movement, where introverts, extroverts, and everyone in between can come together over a shared love of reading.

Whether you arrive with a brand-new novel or a worn-in classic, you're invited to make the experience your own:

  • Come solo or bring a friend

  • Arrive early to mingle or settle in quietly

  • Read for a full hour of uninterrupted bliss

  • Stick around for casual conversation or connect with guest authors

This isn't your average book club. It's a peaceful pause in your month, a space to slow down, savor your current read, and connect with a community that truly gets the joy of books.

Join us for the next gathering!
